Garnet Coin is a short A-line kurta in handloom cotton — deep wine ground woven with all-over gold coin buti. The motifs are not printed. They’re woven in — circular disc shapes worked into the fabric as supplementary weft, sitting raised and textured on the wine ground. They catch light differently depending on the angle. In sunlight: gold. In shade: warm ochre.

The contrast teal collar lining is the quiet design decision here. The collar is wine on the outside. Open the stand slightly and the teal shows. It’s an interior detail that reads as considered without announcing itself.

Wear with white palazzos or white straight pants (as styled in the shoot). Brown leather flats. Large silver oxidised jhumkas. The wine-and-white combination is unfussy and strong. Add a tan or cognac bag for warmth. The teal lining opens the door to teal or peacock accessories if you want to build on it.

Handloom cotton — slightly slubbed weave with a natural texture. The gold buti is woven in, not printed. Gets softer and better with every wash.

Craft

Handloom weaving with supplementary weft buti technique. The gold coin motifs are integral to the fabric structure — created during weaving, not applied after. Each piece carries the slight irregularity of a human-made textile.

Care

Hand wash cold. Dry in shade. Iron on reverse on medium heat. The handloom cotton will soften with age.

Wear with white wide-leg palazzos or white straight-cut pants (as styled) — the wine-and-white contrast is clean and strong. Brown leather flats or kolhapuris (as shown). Silver oxidised jhumkas — the large chandelier earrings in the shoot are exactly the right scale and finish. A tan or cognac top-handle bag sits well against the warm wine palette. WASH CARE

Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Do not wring or twist. Dry flat in shade. Iron on medium heat on reverse side. The handloom cotton will soften and improve with each wash. Do not bleach.
